A Sunday walk in the park
|
|
Seeing as how there are mounds and barrels of free time here in Norway, people go for a lot of walks. I'm goin to start doin them more, especially once I start cutting, but this one was just for fun. It was a gorgeous Sunday, and I had little to do, and everyone and their mom was going for a walk, so I decided to join the fray. Well, I was alone, but I was in the fray, nonetheless. I brought my camera, as I always do on my walks -- you never know when somethin might strike you -- but today I used it a bit more. Maybe it was somethin in the air, maybe it was the email I just got from IFBB fitness competitor Mari Kudla, maybe it was just because I was in a great mood, or maybe I was just being myself, but whatever it was, it made me have a bit of fun with my timer and the beautiful surroundings at the park I was at -- Gamlehaugen. A couple of times people walked by me while I was taking some of my pics, and gave me strange looks, as we all know that Norwegians are not the most easy-going people all the time, but its all good. I had a great time, and I am in one or two of the pics, see if you can find me

This week, Marit told me that she was going snowboarding on Sunday, a hobby that she had recently fell in love with. So she invited me (more or less) and I went and I could not be happier (Actually, I could be happier if my ankle and knee weren't hurting, but thats just temporary). After sucking to the utmost degree the first time down the hill, I ate lunch, rested my poor poor body, and gave it another go, and it was great! I was like a new man, and made it down the hill in no time flat and I could actually control my board and my body, it was spectacular! I went down once more, and was even better! Great super fun sweet-ass times! I can't wait to do it more and I can't wait to see what the slopes are like back in good old Eugene. So if ya wanna snowboarding buddy -- hit me up when I get home!
HA DET!!!!
p.s. I didn't take many pics at all, and none while we were there-- sorry. I know you all were expecting better from me -- but at least I commemorated it somehow. 0)
p.p.s. That hat I was wearing had a built-in scarf!!! Wow- how cool is that?!?! Very cool, I say. ADIOS

As you may well know, before I left for Norway, me and a few of my favoritest people had a bit of a get together to celebrate how cool I am -- errr, see me off before I leave, something like that. Anyways, we had a super great time. I laughed, I cried, I ate, and I played botchy ball. But most of all I had a great time just seein all these wonderful folks. The pics are great fun, and I would backdate these, too, but I doubt most of my friends scroll down to see if I have added new old stuff. So enjoy! It was the world's greatest going away party!

These pics aren't that fun or silly, but it was all I took when I went on a trip to a university cabin in the mountains. It was snowy, and we played outside in the snow and rode tiny little sleds and had a gay old time. Then we came in and ate, drank and were merry. I think it was sometime around Dec 16 or something, and I would backdate it to then, but I want to get my retarded looking face off of the top of my fotopage. I should have taken more, but I didn't, so deal. Lo siento, mi amigos.

My Rainy Day Photos
|
|
Ok, first off, if you are at this site, you might have an idea of just how much of a weirdo I am. It's nothing bad, mind you, its just that I take joy in some things that people might consider strange. And one of those so-called "strange" things is taking crazy pictures of myself for pure amusement. See, here in Norway, I have a lot of free time, and this is just one of the things I like to do to amuse myself. Sometimes others will join in on the fun, like Marit, you will see her in this section multiple times. But a lot of the time, its just me being me. If you ever wanna join, just let me know and we will work something out. Also, sometimes I will take pictures of myself after I have gotten dressed and think I look particularly spiffy, or just feel like having a makeshift photo shoot. I think this section may come to be my favorite on this little webpage of mine, as it shows me at my finest -- or maybe not -- but it does show how much of a dork I am, and I hope you have a chuckle or two at my expense
HA DET!!!
p.s. Be sure to check into this one every once in a while, as I will be updating it somewhat frequently, cuz there are some photo ideas that I have brewing..... Oh, and I will update others as well, not just this one.
p.p.s. I told you all I was weird. Be prepared.....PEACE

Since Derek made the comment that I resembled Paul Bunyan and thought that I should dress up in a plaid shirt, I thought I would satisfy his request. This would normally be on my Rainy Day photos section, but I would like D-Link to see it so I will put it up by itself for a while. Enjoy, Derek -- and everyone else, for that matter.

The Evolution of My Room
|
|
From the day I got here to present day, there have been drastic changes to the interior -- as well as exterior -- decorations of my room. For a while there, the most exciting thing I had in my room was about 40 milk cartons covered with Christmas elves -- yeah, I know, I am a weirdo. But then my mom came over Christmas, bringing with her an idea or two, as well as extra time and someone to share my room with. So since she came here, I have continued to improve upon my once drab room, turning it from a place of gloom, to a love-palace galore!! Or not. But it has made vast improvements, and I am proud of it now and I actually want to show it off to people -- so I will start here!!
HA DET!!!
p.s. At the time of the most recent pictures, it was pretty dirty -- I think I will clean it tomorrow(as I have nothing to do besides go to the gym ) and maybe put some more pics up. But I think it makes it cozy - Enjoy!!!
p.p.s. This kind of reminds me of Trading Spaces How is Verne and the gang, anyways?

I live in the country of Norway, in the city of Bergen. Bergen is a coastal town on the western side of Norway and is the second largest city in Norway -- about 120,000 inhabitants. But enough with the textbook crap, lets talk about what I think about life here in Bergen. Well, for starters -- it rains a lot. Or at least it rained a lot in the first half of my trip, so lets hope that it cools down a bit the second half. But its not like it particularly bothered me as I do come from Eugene. Oh, and the absolute worst part about living here is the darkness. Seriously, there was a while when there was only about 5 good hours of sunlight per day, from about 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM -- not fun. It is enough to drive a person nuts or into a depression, not joking. But the worst has passed and it should only get better from here on out. Walking through the streets of Bergen, you might think that people are a bunch of rude ass monkeys, as they look like they are on a mission to destroy all life and would not move for you if you pointed a gun at their junk. And while that may be the case some of the time, it generally just takes a little time for people to warm up, and once you get to know a Norwegian, they can be some of the friendliest folks around. But the city itself is beautiful, and reminds me a bit of Eugene. It's not too big, yet you can find anything you need. It's rather laid-back, but can be uppity at times. It rains and it is about the same size. It is nestled between mountains, as you can see from the pictures. There are 7 mountains around, and I have yet to hike any of them really. I guess I will get on that this term. But for the most part, I like it here, and I think it was a great place for me to go to get my first taste of life away from home. So come visit me! I'd love to see ya!
HA DET!!!
p.s.It is sooooo expensive here. Its like more than 7 bucks for a beer in a club, and i could buy five times the amount of chicken for the same price I pay here. Talk about bringin a man down. Ah well, the UO is payin for it anyway
p.p.s. these pics might be a little boring -- or not -- but I figured some of you might like a better idea of the town I currently reside in. So here it is! ADIOS

For those of you who don't know, I live in a student hostel called Fantoft. I often refer to Fantoft and am wary of people not knowing what the heck I am talking about. So, Fantoft is a place where there are tons and tons of people who come to Norway from all over the world to study, work, or just live for the cheapest price around here. There are about 7 blocks, from A-G or so, I'm really not sure. Some people live alone, some people live with one roommate or with their families, and some people -- like me -- live on a flat in which you have your own room and bathroom, but you have a communal kitchen with up to 7 or 8 other people (those are the C and D blocks). These are probably the best blocks to live in to be able to meet the greatest amount of people as easy as possible. I have had a total of 10 people come and go from my flat in my time here, but as it stands, my floor roster is set as follows: Me-Rudy-from America, Erik-The New Guy- from Holland, Torgrid-The 48 year old guy- from Norway, Marit- the blonde- from Norway, Caroline-the blonde- from Norway, Caroline-the blonde-from France, Celine-The blonde- from France, and Ursula-the blonde- from Austria. See a pattern? Anyways, we all get along very well and I can often be found watching Joe Millionaire, Extreme Makeover, What not to Wear, and other reality TV shows or movies on Caroline-the blonde- from Norway's television. Its nice around here, and we don't really have many parties, but Fantoft definitely has its fair share. And while I don't get to a ton of them, I have seen my fair share. Its a good place, and if ya wanna visit sometime, just drop on by. Oh, and this entry will be of photos of everyday life and how I live and whatnot here at Fantoft -- in case you were curious. Sound good? It does to me.
HA DET!!!!!
p.s. I've also lived with a drunken, refer-smoking hippy from Wales (Pete), a bookworm from Switzerland (Simon), and a shy girl from Greece (Paulina) -- all good people.
p.p.s. I live in room C616 in the C-Block (duh) and my number is (5527) 6312 -- so you all know.ADIOS
